Shannon’s Road to the Healthcare Industry in Sutter County
Shannon came to the Sutter County One Stop in June 2012 with a desire to enter the medical field. She had been accepted into an ROP Nursing Assistant class and was requesting financial assistance to help pay for the course. Shannon wondered whether Workforce Investment Act (WIA) funding could help her.
Shannon’s career assessment confirmed that she had the skills, interest and values that would make her a good match for this occupation. The WIA program was able to assist Shannon with her books, uniforms and state exam fee.
Shannon received her Certificate of Completion on June 14, 2012, and shortly after that, she passed her State Licensing Exam. Recently Shannon was hired as a CNA at The Courtyards, an Assisted Living facility in Yuba City. Congratulations, Shannon!
